Day 1 of 30 days of GRATITUDE
What smell are you grateful for?
BVLGARI Eau Parfumée Au Thé Vert
In 2009, I went to the Bahamas for Thanksgiving, (long story,) I was supposed to see my first boyfriend from high school, Mike, who had become a model in New York! He ended up not being able to come, but we stayed on a yacht and photographed and styled models for a few days and it was a total anomaly to my life story. There, I saw money like I'd never seen before. And in the yacht, all the soaps and shampoos were this fragrance. Even though the trip left a bad taste in my mouth, the scent was so mesmerizing, I bought myself the perfume for myself for Christmas. I've been thinking about it again lately, thinking maybe I'll buy it again and think about the turquoise water and the perfect temperature of air and water and the decadence and opulence I'll likely never experience again. This trip was immediately followed by another insane adventure, both with my friend Fette, to the art fair in Miami, where I'd curated bus billboards with art with my gallery, Light & Wire. I saw another face of the same richness, another ugliness among a beautiful landscape. But I am grateful that I saw it. And I'm grateful I know the other side of American life, the labor of those who make rich peoples lifestyles possible.
